For nearly half a century, the grit and grime of the Big Apple has inspired generations of MCs and producers who’ve been influenced by their predecessors as well as by the streets of the city. Following a week dedicated to the various regions and styles of hip-hop and rap, on today’s episode we bring it back to where it all began, New York City. We’ll hear Detroit transplant and jack-of-all-trades producer and lyricist Quelle Chris on collaborating with his partner Jean Grae, and from New York's Elucid on working with Milwaukee's Milo to form Nosturm Grocers, a perfect marriage of improvisation, realism and nostalgia.
