In 2014, Vallejo, CA's Nef the Pharaoh was touted by fans as the "Bay Area Freshman of the Year" and was subsequently hailed by hip-hop journalist Jeff Weiss "as the best new rapper from the Bay Area since Mac Dre." Since he burst onto the scene, the frequent collaborator of E-40 – he has released numerous salvos on 40 Water's label – Nef has gained notoriety for his infectious anthems and charismatic flow. Most recently he teamed up with fellow West Coast rapper 03 Greedo on the _Porter2Grape_ mixtape and will release his mixtape _Big Boss Chang_ next month. He joins Vivian today to discuss these releases, the Bay Area rap landscape and staying hyphy.
