Description
Live from Chile! Los Bárbara Blade – the trio of synth player Lorena Álvarez, drum machine operator Maxi Cat Murillo, and guitar player Felipe Castro – folds influences from South America, the Caribbean and the Middle East into their psychedelic electro-punk. We talk to the members about their big hit "Vitamina C," which melds reggaeton with old-school dancehall, their ecstatic live shows and their exuberant new album, _Gracias!... Luis Pereira_. Later, we chat with Bronko Yotte (AKA Felipe Berríos), a teacher by day and a stalwart of the local hip-hop scene by night, who has spearheaded a new generation of underground Chilean rappers open to trying different sounds and flavors. To close out the show, we bring on Chilean singer/songwriter Gepe to discuss finding his roots in Chilean folk music and his new compilation of traditional, Chilean songwriters of the past.
