Though New York-born vocalist Jillian Hervey and producer Lucas Goodman met while living in Boston, the music they make together as Lion Babe is 100% New York. Blending the bouncing disco and groovy funk beats of the '70s with '80s and '90s R&B, the duo's music is an homage to their city. In 2014 they released their self-titled debut EP, which featured Childish Gambino, on UK label Polydor. Since then they've consistently released singles and collaborated with the likes of Disclosure, Pharrell and Leikeli47. This March the duo self-released their sophomore album _Cosmic Wind_, which features tracks with Raekwon and Leikeli47, among others. Today, Vivian speaks with Lion Babe about their nonstop release schedule, high-profile collaborators and what being a New York musician is all about.
