Ezra Rubin AKA Kingdom co-founded LA label and creative collective Fade to Mind seven years ago, shortly after graduating Parsons School of Design and moving to Los Angeles. Blending UK Bass and native American dance music styles like Baltimore club and ballroom house with the essential elements of rap and R&B, Fade to Mind established itself as essential in the underground dance world. Over the years the label – which started life as a sister imprint to the London-based Night Slugs – has seen releases from Rizzla, Kelela, DAWN, Nguzunguzu, MikeQ and other such sonic disruptors, putting a stamp on a new generation of American club music and influencing the current wave of postmodern pop production. On today's show, we'll listen to new Kingdom jams and talk to Ezra about his work for the likes of Kelela and SZA, his production ethos and _Tears in teh Club_, among other things.
