First up on today’s show is Canadian experimental composer, musician and ambient producer Kara-Lis Coverdale. From her classical training in piano to creating vocal reverb with metal sheets in her father’s tool shed, the rural Ontario native's foray into music production and sonic experimentations began at a young age. Her innate curiosity in the sonic complexities of the world around her, both organic and fabricated, coupled with years playing church organ, led Coverdale down a path exploring both the profane and transcendental spaces between human and machine. Coverdale will speak with Vivian on the music that has shaped her journey and her collaborations with likeminded musicians such as Tim Hecker, LXV and more. Later in the show we’ll hear a conversation with Daniel Brandt, cofounder of electro-acoustic German ensemble Brandt Brauer Frick. This week Brandt will release his second solo album, _Channels_, on avant-garde London label Erased Tapes.
