Description
Tonight kicks off Red Bull Music Festival NYC with the event _If This Knowledge Scares You, The Equation Is Working_, whose name is derived from’80s New York artist RAMMΣLLZΣΣ’s self-penned manifesto. Earlier in the week Vivian spoke with Wiki and Tony Seltzer, two artists performing this evening, today she speaks with Standing on the Corner's Gio Escobar and Jasper Marsalis, who also feature on the event's lineup. Founded by Escobar, who quickly enlisted Marsalis, Standing on the Corner has grown to be a genre-defying collective of New York musicians whose unifying force is their reverence for their hometown's history. Incorporating elements of jazz, indie rock, soul, funk, and hip-hop, coupled with poetry, mock radio broadcasts, and a myriad of samples, the sound of Standing on the Corner in the ultimate embodiment of what is New York. The two chat with Vivian today about their relationship to RAMMΣLLZΣΣ and what it means to be apart of this tribute event.
