Peak Time – Honoring Beastie Boys’ Adam Yauch, Ric Leichtung of AdHoc Presents

Today guest host Matthew Ismael Ruiz takes a look at the legends and institutions that have made — and continue to make — New York the creative hub that it is. First up he invites Ric Leichtung, the events director for the Brooklyn-based media outlet and production company AdHoc, into the studio to discuss the current state of DIY. For nearly a decade Leichtung has been deeply embedded in the DIY music scene, curating and booking thousands of events in NYC. On the second half of the show, Ruiz welcomes Dan Berger and Debra McClutchy of Oscilloscope, the film company founded by the late Adam Yauch. Oscilloscope marked its tenth anniversary this year, and recently announced an interactive online experience in collaboration with Red Bull Music Academy. Titled "The House that Yauch Built," it highlights Yauch’s musical, cinematic, cultural and philanthropic achievements.
