Description
New York's experimental, left-of-center act Gang Gang Dance have been described as avant-garde rock, experimental rock, and art rock, all of which are applicable as the trio draws on a variety of influences ranging from Brian Eno to ambient electronica to psychedelic rock to world music (elements of Indian, Middle Eastern, Arabic, Asian, and African music have found their way to GGD's live performances and recordings). On June 22nd, after a seven year hiatus, the trio released their sixth studio album and second for UK label 4AD, _Kazuashita_. The first record together since the acclaimed _Eye Contact_ in 2011, _Kazuashita_ is an intoxicating mix of shoegaze and electronic ambience, and continues the line of blurring the boundaries between music and art. They join Vivian today to discuss what they learned in those seven years, working with new drummers and what's next. Then, acclaimed cellist and composer Lucy Railton stops in the studio.
