Live from Berlin's Funkhaus, we welcome German percussionist George Kranz in to discuss his sensational, chart-topping 1983 single "Din Daa Daa," which became a backbone of house music, hip-hop and breakdance culture. Simple drum-imitating vocals, an infectious tempo and scattered percussion sent it skyrocketing to No. 1 on the US dance charts. We'll talk to Kranz about how he pieced together these elementary concepts to create such a contagious tune and how working with Christopher Franke of Tangerine Dream took "Din Daa Daa" to the next level. We also call up Balearic beat godfather DJ Alfredo, resident at Ibiza’s iconic Amnesia in the 1980s, to talk about what the track did to the dancefloor and his sound getting exported around the world.
