Stereotypes, divisive opinions and other factors have contributed to rifts between first-generation Africans and black Americans. However, music and technology are now working to bridge those gaps in ways inaccessible to previous generations via translatlantic artistic collaborations, long-lost or out-of-print sounds from West Africa being released by reissue labels and more. Ivie E. Ani, a writer for the New York _Times_, _New York_, and others – and a first-generation Nigerian from the Bronx – joins guest host Lawrence Burney in the studio to discuss moving forward while dismantling these prejudices to achieve a borderless togetherness.
