Montreal-based singer, songwriter and artist Devon Welsh gained notoriety as the frontman of Magical Cloudz, the duo that made moody electronic music shrouded in intoxicating gloom. Welsh's melancholic meditations and introspective poeticisms were featured on two critically acclaimed albums, but the group amicably disbanded. Welsh stepped away from the industry for a year to write music that seemingly had no purpose, and those songs came together to form his debut solo album, _Dream Songs_, which he released last week. This effort sees Welsh strip the music back, leaving himself raw and exposed but controlled and confident. Guest host Matthew Ismael Ruiz calls Welsh up to discuss the exposure one feels going solo, the complexities of love and eternal life and the progression of time.
