Born and raised in Moscow during the final years of the Soviet Union, Dasha Rush became enmeshed in Russia's nascent rave scene just as soon as the Iron Curtain fell. At the age of 13 she started DJing and later moved on to production, releasing on labels like Sonic Groove and Raster Noton, plus her own label Fullpanda and its more experimental offshoot Hunger to Create. Rush is known for exploring the boundaries of electronic music, via collaborations with dancers and visual artists, working in spatial sound technology and in AV shows like her "Dark Hearts of Space," which explored the poetic and physical nature of a black hole. Vivian talks to Dasha Rush about her current obsessions and pushing techno into new realms. Also, as it's new-release Friday, we'll be running through some fresh sounds from around the globe as well as breaking music news.
