Chuck Strangers has been a part of hip-hop collective Pro Era since 2012, producing beats collective members like Joey Bada$$, Capital STEEZ, Kirk Knight and others. While making his name as a producer, Strangers has also been rapping, lending verses to several Joey Bada$$ songs and releasing a handful of solo tracks. This Friday he’ll put out _Consumers Park_, his debut full-length and a project four years in the making. Built upon Strangers’ signature gritty, ode-to-the-'90s hip-hop production style, the album provides the setting for him to finally flex his lyrical muscle. With witty, tongue-in-cheek lyrics, Strangers waxes nostalgic about his native New York, paying homage to the streets and moments that shaped him as an artist while providing a subtle rumination on the state of modern rap. The young MC joins Vivian today to discuss working with his idols (Alchemist did some production) and what those four years entailed, plus he shares some new music, guilty pleasures and more.
