Mancunian composer, producer and bassist Barry Adamson has been creating and playing music for the better part of his life — he got an early start in the post-punk scene of the '80s as the cofounder of and bassist for Magazine, one of his hometown’s most influential bands. Following the group's breakup, Adamson’s career only soared higher, as he took a gig with another one of the era’s major players, the Birthday Party, which morphed into playing with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. After a three-year stint with Cave, Adamson struck out on his own to release his debut solo album, _Moss Side Story_. Now, 40 years and nine solo albums on from his start with Magazine, Adamson is releasing _Memento Mori (Anthology 1978-2018)_, which traces his career highlights. Today we’ll hear a chat between Adamson and Peak Time correspondent Harley Brown, where they talk about the process of choosing the tracks for this release and some stories from his early days.
