London's newest rising star Ama Lou is DIY in every sense of the phrase: She's a one-woman band who writes and produces her music and creates all the accompanying visuals and films. Citing her love of classic film and classic jazz, Lou approaches music-making with a refreshingly raw honesty. In 2016 she made a splash with her soulful and politically charged single "TBC." This past spring the classically trained singer — who taught herself to play guitar at age 10 and piano at 14 — released _DDD_ (which stands for "dawn, day, dusk"), a moody and conceptual triptych that tells the imagined story of a runner in a LA crime ring. With cosigns from Drake and Jorja Smith, with whom she just wrapped a tour, Lou is undoubtedly on the verge. She'll join Vivian today to elaborate on the concept behind _DDD_, her songwriting process, touring with Jorja Smith and what the future might hold.
