Description
Born in Ecuador, the Queens-bred DJ, producer and promoter Abe Duque worked his way from playing keyboard in his local church to becoming a key figure in '90s New York nightlife. The Limelight was where Duque found his home in the hedonism, and where he hosted his regular night, Abuse Industries. Cofounded with the visual artist Andy Orel, the party celebrated experimentation, hosting some of the biggest names in techno and ambient, boasting visuals so striking they’ve been memorialized in museums, fashion stages and magazines. Following Limelight’s closure, Duque continued to release acid house and techno under his own name as well as his Kirilan moniker, on Disko B, Vortex and Tresor, as well as his own labels Tension and Rancho Relaxo. Duque continues to release music and collaborate with and remix likeminded producers such as the Chemical Brothers, Pet Shop Boys, Miss Kittin, Chloe, Savas Pascalidis, and DJ Hell.
