Wax Trax! is America's most iconic industrial music record label... but if it's founders were alive today they would bristle at the term. Throughout the '80s and '90s, the Chicago imprint run by Jim Nash and Dannie Flesher – which grew out of a record store of the same name – released some of the most vital, harsh, forward-thinking, nihilist and absurd sounds the underground scene had ever heard. Ministry, Revolting Cocks, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, KMFDM and Front Line Assembly were among the bands who found a loving home (and keen aesthetic direction) via Wax Trax! and its releases galvanized a generation of disenfranchised cyberpunks, proto-ravers, goths and freaks of all stripes with its "No fucks given" attitude.
