Today’s episode dives into the physical properties of sound as well as its intangible properties. Composer, curator and technologist Paul Oomen of 4DSOUND talks about building a speaker system that allows listeners to experience the tactile sensations, various dimensions and spatial qualities of sound. For this year’s Red Bull Music Festival Berlin, 4DSOUND teamed up with new Berlin venue MONOM (housed inside the Funkhaus in East Berlin) to premiere one of the world’s largest spatial sound systems, with performances from Jlin and Oneohtrix Point Never. Vivian will speak with Oomen and MONOM creative director Will Russell about developing the immersive system, how it works and how we experience music. Later we're joined by WIFE (the alias of RBMA Tokyo 2014 alum James Kelly), who is a native of Cork, Ireland, but now calls Berlin home.
