Hugh Masekela is widely known as the father of South African jazz, a title fitting the musician’s rich legacy and love for his homeland. During his decades of exile, Masekela made it his mission to protest the evils of Apartheid, while also turning the wider world onto the wonders of African culture. This passion was instilled in the essence of his music, which he passed along to his son, Sal Masekela, a television personality, activist and musician recording under the moniker Alekesam. The second Alekesam album, _Sound Proof Heart_, was recently released on Alpha Pup Records. This project is not only a personal journey but the continuation of a multigenerational connection. Alekesam joins Frosty to unpack this deep relationship and celebrate his father’s spirit. Before honing in on this zone, Frosty zooms around the globe to give big-picture snapshots, including a world premiere from Gilberto Rodriguez y Los Intocables’ new album, _Sabor Maracuyá Desnuda_.
