A true cosmopolitan in heritage, style and musical vision, Ahmed Gallab AKA Sinkane has derived his own musical language from a diverse palette of influences. Born in London and partly raised in Sudan, the son of a British college professor eventually spent most of his formative years in Kent and Columbus, Ohio, before settling in Brooklyn. Ahmed had already pursued a life in music as a session drummer for the likes of Yeasayer, Caribou and Of Montreal, before introducing his Sinkane project with two mostly instrumental electrified post-rock records on Emergency Umbrella. Hot on the heels of his first full-length album for DFA, the sci-fi soul manifesto *Mars*, Ahmed was asked to serve as performer and musical director in the Luaka Bop-initiated Atomic Bomb Band, a special outfit celebrating the music of African synth mystery man William Onyeabor.
