Growing up in Munich, Roland Appel was exposed to American styles like soul, jazz and funk at an early age. In the early ‘90s, when techno came booming into the city’s club scene, Appel was at the forefront, and he practiced weaving together various styles of dance music. As a producer, Appel first released under the pseudonym Fauna Flash, with Christian Prommer, before releasing under his own name for Compost Records and, most notably, Sonar Kollektiv. In this session, the Appel spins a range of dancefloor gems at Blitz Club, where he holds down a residency.
