On the Floor – Ravi Coltrane at The Ecstatic World of Alice Coltrane

As a tribute to the late Alice Coltrane’s radical sonic spiritualism and lasting influence on experimental jazz – given new life by the 2017 release of *The Ecstatic World of Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda* compilation on Luaka Bop – Ravi Coltrane leads an all-star band in performing a selection of music, spanning his late mother’s 60-year recording career. The band includes members of Ravi’s own quartet, such as Cuban jazz pianist David Virelles and bassist Dezron Douglas, Long Island-raised harpist Brandee Younger, and celebrated jazz and hard bop double bassist Reggie Workman, who collaborated with the late John Coltrane himself.
