New York-based musician and South Korea native Okkyung Lee has created a body of work that blurs genre boundaries; she has collaborated with artists such as Laurie Anderson, Mark Fell and Thurston Moore, to name just a few. Her work draws inspiration from extended techniques of noise, jazz, Western classical compositions and traditional and popular Korean music. At Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, Lee continues on her quest to test the limit of contemporary cello performance techniques.
