On the Floor – Michael Serafini and Garrett David at Red Bull Music Presents Queen!

Chicago will always be the birthplace of house music, but the Windy City is so much more. Although the scene has ebbed and flowed over the years, certain Chicago pillars have remained constant, including Smart Bar and Gramaphone Records. The latter, which first opened in 1969, is widely recognized as one of the best record shops on the planet, and under the guidance of current owner Michael Serafini, it continues to be an essential destination for vinyl diggers everywhere. When he’s not behind the counter, Serafini is a resident at Smart Bar’s Sunday night Queen! party alongside house legend Derrick Carter and Garrett David, who issued a solo EP in 2015 via Gramaphone’s in-house label. In this session the two pair up for a special back-to-back session at Queen!, recorded live at the Metro.
