On the Floor – Huun Huur Tu at Alexandrinsky Theatre

Huun Huur Tu is a musical and vocal quartet from Tuva, a republic of Russia on the Russian-Mongolian border. Formed in 1992, the group’s sound focuses on Tuvan throat singing, and reconfigures regional folk songs through traditional instruments (jaw harp and shaman drum) alongside acoustic and electric Western instruments like harp, guitar, or more recently, synthesizers. Huun Huur Tu is best known outside of Tuva for its collaborations with artists such as Frank Zappa and the Kronos Quartet, and for having its music featured on the *Fargo* television series.
