On the Floor – HANZ at Red Bull Music Festival New York

HANZ is the alias of Durham-based, genre-hopping producer Brandon Juhans. Originally he wanted to be an illustrator, so he approaches music production as if creating a complete image out of puzzle pieces, culling together various sonic elements from hip-hop, punk and experimental music to create a unique sound that heaves with tension. This past spring he released _Plasty II_ (on Tri Angle), the followup to his _Plasty I_ EP from last year. In this session HANZ performs a weird and twisted set of chopped and screwed hip-hop samples and deconstructed techno, a fitting sound for the creepy theme of the night.
