On the Floor – Electric Indigo at Red Bull Music Festival Berlin

When Susanne Kirchmayr, AKA Electric Indigo, first got into the music industry in the late '80s, she was a radio DJ with a passion for jazz, funk and hip-hop, but her introduction to house and techno spun this Austrian artist’s career in a radically different direction. After a stint of working at Berlin's legendary Hard Wax record shop, she began making music of her own and launched female:pressure, an international platform for female DJs, producers and artists involved in electronic music. While DJing around the world, in the early 2000s she began issuing a series of EPs via her own indigo:inc record label. She continues to create and release music and oversee female:pressure, and she’s seen her efforts recognized by the Austrian government: The Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture named Kirchmayr an Outstanding Artist in 2012 and awarded her a national grant for composition in 2013.
