As one of Tokyo’s premier modern day techno artists, DJ Sodeyama has made a name for himself as a DJ, a producer and as the founder and driving force behind the Arpa record label. With a number of albums and singles on Zenit, Kumo, Acupuncture and Lyase Recordings, Sodeyama has reimagined today’s house and techno sound in vivid ways, stretching the machine groove into new abstractions. Perhaps his alias The People In The Fog better conjures the nebulous, hypnotic character of his dancefloor soundtrack, but there’s no doubt Sodeyama is taking electronic music and Japanese techno in particular, to unusual places.
