Description
For a man with some of the most in-your-face tracks in US dance music, it seems apt that DJ Assault is the man who knows how to describe himself with a raw directness: “In the club and on the streets, I keep bangin’ the beat.” Born Craig De Sean Adams and raised in Detroit, DJ Assault came to dance music like many of his Motown brethren, through late night radio and the cacophony of radical electronic sounds that pulsed out from it. Growing up in the crucible of techno left its mark, and Assault is best known for popularizing ghettotech - a style of dirty, bass-focused dance music that started in the mid-’90s and certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted. His productions have largely been released on labels he co-runs, such as Electrofunk Records, Assault Rifle Records and Jefferson Ave., and his DJ sets feature rapid-fire mixing for maximum impact.
