When Bambii started JERK four years ago, she wanted to throw a party where the stratified Toronto club scene could come together and listen to music from the black and brown underground, and create a space where LGBTQ people could dance in safety and joy. An ode to her Caribbean heritage, JERK, in her own words, "pushes subversive new sounds, and gives some serious nostalgic moments." Recently she's worked with long-running Toronto queer club crew Yes Yes Y'All, toured the world as Mykki Blanco's DJ and started making multimedia works, like her EUTHANASIA video mix. Full of twists and thrills, Bambii's DJ sets celebrate the black musical diaspora and the inventive potential of the dancefloor.
