On the Floor – Akimbo & Smiley at RBMA Bass Camp Seoul

Akimbo is the alter ego of Academy alumnus Rhylon Durham, presenting the first performance of a new live duo project with Korean percussionist and producer Smiley Song. For their debut, they invited two guest performers: renowned Korean experimental jazz player Kim Oki, and Gwak Giwoong a Korean traditional flautist. Their hybrid set utilizes live drums and percussion with drum pads, vocals, Korean horns and flutes and other samples from the rich tapestry of Korean traditional instruments, all filtered through analog effects for a dubbed-out journey into tribal electronics.
