This month, Sofrito label cofounder Hugo Mendez takes us on a highlife odyssey, mapping out original rhythms and songs from Ghana and Nigeria, through to the West African diaspora in Europe through the '70s and '80s, and up to the modern day variations of the archetypal stripped-down and stretched out highlife groove. Over the next two hours, we enjoy highlife flavors from Thomas Frempong, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, Goddy Khaki & The Ambassadors, The Water Babies International and many more.
