After the dissolution of Throbbing Gristle, Genesis P-Orridge and Peter Christopherson, along with Alex Fergusson, formed Psychic TV in 1981 against a backdrop of riots and civil disobedience in the UK. With an ever-revolving core of prominent post-industrial artists, PTV has found itself at the forefront of the avant-garde, acid house and hyperdelic rock scenes, with a catalog of hundreds of releases. P-Orridge continues to act as the creative dynamo of the group, shining a light on the irrationally psychedelic — besides music and poetry, P-Orridge is best known for an uncompromisingly radical entanglement of art and life. Inspired by William Burroughs and Brion Gysin’s cut-up technique, Genesis and wife Lady Jaye Breyer, who died in 2007, embarked on the Pandrogyne Project, which has included multiple physical modifications.
