This month, Honey Soundsystem celebrates its 40th episode on air — and the last for Red Bull Radio — with a spotlight on the San Francisco disco club Trocadero Transfer. A legendary space that soundtracked many a night of after-hours exhalation for the city's gay community in the late '70s and '80s, it was replete with a giant mirror ball, psychedelic lighting schemes and unforgettable characters. Jackie House traces the history of the club via long-format interviews with three unlikely individuals: There's Lester Temple, a veteran radio DJ who started a rock night there after being invited to play by longtime resident Bobby Viteritti, and Basil Racuk, a menswear designer, leather shop owner and early Trocadero regular who began sneaking into the members-only establishment at the age of 14. Closing out the episode is Carla Nicholson, the club's resident "arclight diva.
