Blessed are the party promoters, those seemingly anonymous figures orchestrating the events bringing joy into our lives without receiving any of the fanfare. Steven Reaume is one such promoter whose impact on Detroit's queer underground dance scene is much larger his own reputation. In the early '90s he launched the VOOM promotions crew with Marke Bieshcke, and they began throwing KLONK parties, where the diverse audiences and audacious aesthetics stood out. Since then he's managed the Industry nightclub in Pontiac, MI; run the BAK DØR weekly party at Grenadier Club; and is in the process of opening his own club, BLDG01.
