Some two years ago, Milan-based producer Simone Trabucchi – renowned in international noise and experimental circles as the head of revered label Hundebiss and as the artist behind Dracula Lewis and one half of Invernomuto – set out to explore the connections between his hometown of Vernasca with the musical heritages of Ethiopia and Jamaica. The result is STILL, a project that draws on dancehall tropes in collaboration with six African-Italian vocalists. On this episode of Headphone Highlights, Trabucchi traces the inspirations for STILL to music from artists as disparate as Shaggy, Robert Hood and the Temptations.
