After initially being exposed to dance music culture through drum & bass as a teenager in the ’90s, US producer Matrixxman became enamored with techno when he was introduced to the work of Juan Atkins. Between moving back and forth from his long-term home of San Francisco throughout the ’00s, producing digital hip-hop beats for rappers Le1f and Mykki Blanco, and with Earthman as bass music duo 5kinandbone5, Matrixxman settled on a style of crunching drum tracks that has propelled him forward – infused with Detroit techno and electro, and themes like space travel, artificial intelligence and futurism. As well as releasing his 2015 debut album *Homesick* on Ghostly International, Matrixxman has released music on labels such as Amsterdam’s Dekmantel, DJ Haus’s Unknown To The Unknown, and Ghostly International’s dance sub-label, Spectral Sound, among others.
