Headphone Highlights – Lea Bertucci: Under the Radar

Emerging from the New York improvisational scene in the late 2000s, Lea Bertucci is an interdisciplinary artist who works within the fields of photography, sound design and video/installation art. Based in Brooklyn and devoted to New York’s avant-garde scene, Lea Bertucci works closely with community-focused performing arts spaces such as the Brooklyn-based Roulette and Silent Barn, and held an artist residency at ISSUE Project Room in 2015 and a MacDowell Fellowship in composition in 2016. As a musician, she plays a variety of woodwind instruments, but most consistently the bass clarinet and alto saxophone, and uses techniques such as tape collage, electroacoustics and multi-channel speaker arrays to mould her expansive sound.
