Headphone Highlights – Kelman Duran: Domain to Domain

Kelman Duran is a Dominican musician and visual artist based in Los Angeles, whose sound is inspired by the intersections of Afro-Caribbean music and contemporary US Latinx diasporic culture. He discovered his love for reggaeton and dembow at house parties in his LA neighborhood of Washington Heights, and has carried those inspirations throughout his musical career, shaping and reshaping them along the way. These are the ideas that power Rail Up, the LA-based party and crew which he cofounded, and that weave throughout his 2017 debut EP, _1804 KIDS_, whose title is a reference to the Haitian revolution.
