Description
Born in a small town in northern California, Jessica Pratt learned to play guitar by listening to T Rex, Marianne Faithfull and other oddball luminaries from the various iterations of ’60s and ’70s British rock music. After moving to San Francisco in her teens, she met and began working with White Fence's Tim Presley, who released her 2012 self-titled debut album on his Birth Records label, which he founded especially for the project. Three years later, Chicago's Drag City released her second album, _On Your Own Love Again_, to widespread critical acclaim of her strange, crystalline voice that melts into a tender fingerpicking guitar style. Pratt's third album, _Quiet Signs_, is due for release in early 2019 through Drag City. In this episode of Headphone Highlights, the singer and songwriter presents a selection of tracks that soothe the soul, from classic tunes by the Cyrkle and Smokey Robinson to Brazilian staples by Bola Sete, Jobim and more.
