Jabu is a trio of Bristol-based producers and vocalist that’s part of the Young Echo collective – a loose grouping of musicians from Bristol with stylistic roots in dub soundsystem and UK techno culture, including Kahn & Neek, Ishan Sound, Vessel and Ossia, among others. Originally a duo, Jabu are now vocalists Alex Rendall and Jasmine Butt, and producer Amos Childs. In September 2017, Jabu released their debut album, *Sleep Heavy*, on British experimental electronic label Blackest Ever Black: broken-hearted soul with atmospheric dub swathes, a meditation on grief and healing, cold synth beats accompanied by Rendell’s weighted words, and Butt’s choral-influenced harmonies.
