As one of the members of Buenos Aires’ HiedraH Club de Baile collective, producer and DJ Moro has been on the forefront of a wave of artists from scenes outside of Europe and North America who are challenging the overdone and sometimes-stale tropes of underground club music in London, New York, Los Angeles and Berlin. Together with Mexico City’s N.A.A.F.I. – friends and frequent collaborators – HiedraH takes cues from the vast musical tradition of Argentina and other Latin American countries, to create sounds that redefine what it means to be forward-thinking in contemporary club spaces all over the world. Accordingly, Moro’s Headphone Highlights presents not only HiedraH Club de Baile’s most exciting fellows, but maps a Global South avant-garde that might still be uncharted territory for many Western ears.
