Raised in a Canadian factory town in a household of Italian opera singers, visual artist Floria Sigismondi found ways to communicate her life experience through the medium of moving images. For the past 20-plus years, she’s brought her unique style to music videos for David Bowie, Björk, the Cure, Marilyn Manson, Rihanna, Pink, Katy Perry, Muse, Interpol, and, most recently, Perfume Genius and Alice Glass. In 2010, she released her first movie, *The Runaways*, which told the story of the influential all-female teenage rock group, and starred Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. Most recently Sigismondi directed episodes for *Daredevil* and the Emmy Award-winning *The Handmaid’s Tale*.
