A veteran musician whose lengthy career has touched upon the worlds of folk, country, pop, psychedelia and more, Cassell Webb was born in Texas in 1948. At the age of 14 she started playing guitar, and found herself mingling in the psychedelic music scenes of San Antonio and Houston. After logging time in psych outfits the Children and Saddlesore, Webb headed to California and New York, where she worked as a session singer. Returning to Texas, she spent several years in country music circles, working with artists such as Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson and Guy Clark. Around the same time she also struck up a relationship with famed producer Craig Leon, who would go on to become the most important collaborator of her career. In the early ’80s Webb headed to Europe, settling in England and recording as a solo artist. In 1986, she released *Llano*, the first of five LPs she would release within a six-year span.
