Headphone Highlights – Annie Hart: Forgive Me for My Synths

Annie Hart is best known as the vocalist, keyboard player and bassist from Au Revoir Simone, a Williamsburg-based trio that formed in 2003. Drawing on indie rock, mellow synth melodies and wistful pop romanticism, Au Revoir Simone has recorded several albums; in 2017, Annie released her debut solo album, _Impossible Accomplice_, on femme-focused label Instant Records. With her solo work, Hart explores the intimacy and hypnotic potential of stripped-back keyboard and vocal work. Influenced by synthesizer hero Laurie Spiegel, and by the post-punk and indie rock of her days in Au Revoir Simone, Hart balances melancholy and hopefulness with a deft touch.
