Born and raised in Los Angeles, Brian Allen Simon fell in love with hip-hop and skateboarding as a teenager, studied music history at UCLA and interned at LA hip-hop label Alpha Pup before beginning to release his own music in 2010, when he named himself Anenon and started his Non Projects label. Starting out making downtempo dance music, he began playing saxophone at 22-years old and experimenting with the acoustic potential of brass within electronics. His three EPs and two albums on Non Projects, 2012’s *Inner Hue* and 2014’s *Sagrada*, were followed by 2016’s *Petrol*, which was released on LA label Friends of Friends. Pulling influences from avant-garde jazz and minimalist composers and film soundtracks, and recording live sessions that he then fragments and samples, Anenon’s music sketches personal tales of living in sprawling cityscapes such as LA and exploring the complexities of feeling isolated in a dynamic setting.
