When Vessel first appeared on the electronic radar at the beginning of this decade, their dark, rumbling creations fit neatly into Bristol’s long history of bass-centric music. Part of the Young Echo collective, with their solo efforts they crossed genre boundaries – and invented their own instruments – while crafting a daringly unique and intensely visceral sound. Now, four years removed from their last LP, they turned up in London with a new outlook and a new aesthetic, one that folds in bits of classical, chamber music and even trance, while offering a brighter, more melodic vision. Here they speak about the radical new direction of their latest album for Tri Angle, _Queen of Golden Dogs_, while also reflecting on its genesis in rural Wales, and the complex narratives that inspired the music in the first place. Elsewhere, host Shawn Reynaldo runs through all of the week’s best new electronic offerings and also premieres an exclusive from the upcoming album by Peder Mannerfelt.
