But whether he’s working solo under his own name, crafting noisy jams for L.I.E.S. as Vaputeen or teaming up with the likes of Beau Wanzer (as Civil Duty) or his wife Katie Rose (as Further Reductions), O’Sullivan regularly turns out visceral batches of analog techno. With his latest album as 400PPM dropping this week on Avian, he drops by First Floor to delve into his creative process, discuss the delineation of his various projects and talk about his experiences working at Brooklyn synth shop Control. Also joining the program is New York native James Place, who talks about his latest album for the Umor Rex imprint and how he balances music with his roles at the acclaimed RVNG Intl. and Styles Upon Styles labels.
