Though he was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Moscoman’s musical influences and interests extend well beyond Israeli borders. His Disco Halal label celebrates sounds from across the Middle East – with bits of house, disco, funk and post-punk mixed in – and a similar sensibility marked *A Shot in the Light*, his debut LP which surfaced last year on ESP Institute. Here, the Berlin-based producer speaks with host Shawn Reynaldo about how his cultural background colors his musical vision, while detailing his newest label venture, Treisar, and his plans for 2017. Also visiting the program is Shanti Celeste, another Berlin resident who was actually born in Chile but is best known for the many years she spent in Bristol. Following a string of impressive releases on labels like Future Times, Idle Hands and Apron, she’s elected to start up her own imprint, Peach Discs, and speaks here about everything she has in store for the months ahead.
